Who is a Jew? What is Judaism?
“Strictly speaking it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a Jew or to
call a contemporary Jew an Israelite or a Hebrew.” [Jewish Almanac 1980 p.3]
The word, “Jew” didn’t come into being until after the 12 tribes settled in the land which was divided into the North (10 tribes) and the South — Judah (2 tribes: Judah and Benjamin). The inhabitants of Judah were called Jews. So no one else in the Old Testament could ever be considered a Jew. The people of God were Hebrews (from Abraham on — son of Eber) and Israelites (after Jacob was renamed).
As the peoples intermarried with other nations, things got more complicated and after the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. all the genealogical records were lost. Therefore no one can trace their lineage: either to determine if they are Israelites or Jews or Levites or any of the 12 tribes. By 132 A.D. due to wars and revolts, all Israelites were forced out of their land and it was renamed Syria Palestina.
A pagan Turkish tribe called the Kazars moved into present-day Ukraine, Crimea and Kazakhstan and were required by the Czar of Russia to choose either Christianity, Islam or Judaism as their religion. They chose Judaism and thus became “Jews” but in name only. They incorporated biblical traditions into their pagan religious traditions — creating the Kabbalah which had remnants of Pharisaism and Zoroastrianism.

Some of these Khazarian Jews migrated with time into Russia and the countries of Europe, and later England and the United States. These “Jews” have no way of determining their lineage and, since no “race” is involved and DNA evaulations wouldn’t help.
They became the bankers of Europe — practicing usury to the detriment of the common people. They became the Nazis.
Today, a “Jew” is one if their mother claims to be a “Jew” or if they have converted to Judaism.
